Canada Visa

Canada is famous for its natural scenic beauty, its ethnic diversity and tolerance, its fair judiciary system and human rights strong beliefs. From all over the world, people wish to visit Canada and experience its splendor and unique lifestyle, not to mention the large number of immigrants that move to O Canada every year seeking a better life and better opportunities for their children. Canada receives more than 35 million temporary visitors yearly and many of whom require a Canadian Travel Visa to enter the country. Those Statistics are not taking into account the masses of immigrants who eventually acquire the Canadian Citizenship. Once you are a Permanent Resident or a Canadian Citizen, you do not need a permission or Canada visa to enter your home country.

Citizens of some countries such as the United States, France, Germany etc are on the Visa Exempt Country List and do not need a visa to temporarily enter and visit Canada for a period of less than 6 months.

Citizens of some countries such as the United States, France, Germany etc are on the Visa Exempt Country List and do not need a visa to temporarily enter and visit Canada for a period of less than 6 months. Otherwise, whether as a tourist, student or worker, one would need to acquire beforehand a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) from the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to be allowed entrance into this wonderful country.

Canada is also known for its first class educational standards and world renowned universities. If a non-Canadian plans to enroll in a study program for a period longer than 6 months, a Student Permit must also be obtained in addition to the TRV Visa, when applicable.

After applying and receiving an acceptance letter from a Canadian Institution, Citizenship and Immigration Canada will study your qualifications, check that the applicant has enough funds to cover the tuition as well as living expenses, may even ask for a medical examination check and police clearance certificates before they issue a Student Permit usually for the entire length of the course of studies. Every year, around 80,000 students will enroll in Canadian programs to study with a Student Canada visa. Note that if the school is in Montreal or anywhere else in the Province of Quebec, international students will also need the approval of the Government of Quebec and will need to renew their Canada Study permit every year.

After graduating from a Canadian post secondary institution (University, Cegep, or College) from at least a two- year program, the Canadian government likes to encourage foreign graduates to get a Canadian work experience and contribute back to the work force in Canada, in such a case, before even holding a job offer, international students can apply for the Post-Graduation Work Permit which grants them a three year Open Work Permit to work for a Canadian employer.

If you plan on entering Canada for work reasons, even if you have a Temporary Resident Canadian Visa, a Canada Temporary Work Permit must also be acquired.

Every year, around 200,000 Non-Canadian workers acquire a Temporary Canadian Work Permit and come to work in Canada. Before applying for a Work Visa at the Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC), foreign workers must first hold a temporary offer of employment from a Canadian employer.

The Canadian Employer in such cases must also first apply to the Labour Market Opinion which will be have to be satisfied that no Canadian worker is available to do that particular job that a foreign worker is to be hired for. Such a permission is not needed in some cases, such as if the job falls under the NAFTA agreement, if it will bring significant economic and social benefit to Canada, if an international students needs it to fulfill certain requirements before graduating, if the work is of religious or charitable kind, if there is a refugee claim, etc.
