Immigration To Canada

Canada is rich and famous with its multi-ethnicity. Studies show that among a 100,000 people sample there are 43 different ethnic backgrounds. Canada census has estimated the population of Canada to be around 34 million people in 2010. Statistics show about 21% of the population is of English descendant, close to 16% French, 15% of Scottish descendant and close to 14% Irish, 10% German, 5% Italian, and 4% Ukrainian and there is also a rising population of Indian and Middle Eastern background. Canada has a low population density of about 3.2 people per Km2; it therefore greatly depends on immigration for its population growth. In fact, Canada has the highest per-capita immigration rate in the world, and it also accepts a high number of refugees. Applying to Canada for immigration purposes may be one of smartest thing most people trying to achieve a better life for themselves and their children do.

The Canadian population growth depends much more on immigration than natural growth. In 2001, Canada census reported around 260,000 immigrants per year which would account for 25% of the population growth over 25 years. One of the great things about this country is that Canada immigration laws encourage Canadian families to reunite. The Family Class immigration class allows Canadian citizens and even permanent residents that are living in Canada to sponsor family members that wish to come and live in Canada and become citizens themselves. The family members that one can sponsor are spouses, partners, parents, children under 18 or dependent children unmarried and under 22 years, adopted children, even an aunt or uncle if you do not have any other family in Canada, moreover in case the siblings, nieces or nephews are orphans they would also be eligible for sponsorship etc.

When it comes to reuniting partners Canada immigration laws are really keen on getting loved ones together. In Canada, you can sponsor your partner for a Canadian residency whether you are married legally or are common-law partners, of opposite or same sex, if you have lived together for a continuous year and you have joint documents to prove it such as joint lease or joint bank accounts etc. You can also apply for a Conjugal Partner Sponsorship in which case you and your partner are dependent on each other but due to some circumstances could not be legally bound due to same sex marriage laws in your place of residence, or immigration barriers etc. You can also sponsor your same sex spouse if married in Canada. To sponsor any of the above family members from spouses to parents to children, one must promise to help them settle and support them for a period of 3 to 10 years.

Canada also encourages economic immigrants which are workers with enough skills and experience to contribute to the economy of Canada. Another part of the immigration in Canada is accepting refugees that need protection is due to humanitarian causes.
